Values and Philosophy

Our Programs

At A.C.E Child Care Centre educators use the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework (VEYLDF), to guide the children’s play by carefully designing learning activities and providing a stimulating indoor and outdoor learning environment. The EYLF conveys the highest expectations for all children’s learning from birth to five years. At A.C.E Child Care Centre we use EYLF goals as a foundation for our interactions, planning and curriculum. There are five Learning Outcomes which communicates these expectations through the following:

  • Children have a strong sense of identity
  • Children are connected with and contribute to their world
  • Children have a strong sense of wellbeing
  • Children are confident and involved learners
  • Children are effective communicators.

The EYLF and VEYLDF guide us in delivering high quality interactions and early learning experiences for all the children attending A.C.E Child Care Centre.

A stimulating and challenging program will be planned by the educators to help each child develop to their fullest potential - physically, emotionally, socially and intellectually. The curriculum will be adapted to suit each child's level of development and interest, and will foster their confidence and independence.

The curriculum provided for the children is based on the notion that children learn through play. Play is a valued process for children’s learning, thinking, imagination, story making and communication.

Play

  • Enables children to make sense of their world.
  • Develop social and cultural understandings.
  • Allows children to express their thoughts and feelings.
  • Encourages flexible and divergent thinking.
  • Provides opportunities to meet and solve real problems.
  • Develops language and literacy skills.
  • Develops numeracy skills and mathematical concepts.

Incursions

To enhance the program at A.C.E Child Care Centre we organise a number of incursions/ Special Visitors into the centre. Incursions such as a Puppet Show, Australian Baby Animals and Reptiles, and Mobile Farm, Dancing Groups etc. enrich the children's learning. These extra curricula activities vary from year to year and are decided upon at the beginning of each year.

Diversity

We believe that all children are diverse by nature, and are entitled to a learning program that recognizes and values the needs of all learners. No two children are the same. Just as their personalities, likes, and dislikes differ, so do their learning styles. Children will therefore approach things differently. In our program we plan various activities to meet the needs of each of the children within the group setting.

Mixed Age Groupings

At A.C.E Child Care Centre we group the children in rooms with others of similar ages (Babies room, Toddler room and Kindergarten room), so they can play, learn and socialise in environments best suited to their development. However at various times throughout the day we provide the children with a mixed age group environment. The children are grouped with mixed age groups in the morning, outside and at the end of the day. At A.C.E Child Care Centre we believe that older children and younger children learn from each other. Older children take on a leadership role, learn to adapt their language and social skills to relate with younger children, often learning patience, empathy and problem solving skills. Younger children are challenged by older children and often engage in more complex activities than when they play with same age peers, their language development is fostered by the interactions with the older children as are their social development.

The mixed age grouping is also very important to nurture and support sibling interactions whilst at A.C.E Child Care Centre. It also provides children with no siblings the opportunity to for relationships and learn to interact with children of different ages.

Enriching Experiences and Inclusive Environment

We enrich the learning journey of our young ones through exciting incursions and special visitors. From puppet shows to encounters with Australian baby animals and reptiles, these unique experiences expand their horizons and spark their creativity. Moreover, we embrace diversity, recognising that each child is unique with their own learning styles and preferences.

Our programs are thoughtfully designed to cater to the individual needs of every child, fostering an inclusive environment where everyone feels valued and supported. Through mixed age groupings, children learn from one another, cultivating leadership, empathy and social skills and forming meaningful connections that last a lifetime.
